Above and below are samples of traditional animation I have created and/or collaborated on. My background in commercial art consists of a lot of traditional animation work, much of which I animated while working with Calabash Animation in Chicago. Other studios I have animated for include Digital Kitchen, Vitamin Pictures, Protokulture, and Filmograph.

Middle School - The Worst Years of My Life

Main Title Sequence by Filmograph for CBS Films / J.P. Entertainment / Lionsgate Films

I storyboarded this sequence and then did lead animation on it in collaboration with creative director, Aaron Becker, and executive producer, Seth Kleinberg at Filmograph: www.filmograph.tv.

This sequence was started by drawing with pen and Sharpie markers on paper. My storyboards and concepts turned into the keyframes used for the animation, with a little more finessing and line weight, as well as some edits and additions. We animated most of the line work traditionally/digitally in Adobe Photoshop, drawing frame by frame by hand with Wacom Cintiqs. There were a few sequences where I did some breakdown in-betweens on paper drawing on my old school homemade lightbox, such as the skater ollie over the graveyard. Then it was further in-betweened in Photoshop(thanks Satrun sisters). This was a fun project to work on, and in many ways reminded me of my time in junior high school: a lot of time spent drawing and wishing I were anywhere else.

Animators Zachary Carnes, Catherine Saturn, Sarah Satrun, and C.J. Cook also contributed a lot to this sequence.
